Sigrid Hamelink:
“I create sculptures and installations, with the specific characteristics and possibilities of a place as a starting point. The experience of the human body in space, the perception of light and time are essential. For several years now I have been working with porcelain human figures, which I manually build hollow-walled. The stylization involves a long process of sanding and polishing. Each piece is unique and finds its own place on a stoneware base or a block of wood attached to the wall. The result is a changing play of light and shadow, allowing each piece to have infinite expressions.”
