Pim Piët about the line-cut series:
The works originated from the idea of removing matter/dust and replacing it with something immaterial, in my case a line. Sawing in the wood creates a void at the place of the cut but also creates something new, a line or form. Depending on place and light it reveals its existence.
The line is also an interesting element that can be used in various ways. A line can be the separation of parts but also a continuation in movement and thus the emergence of form.
Playing with all these thoughts, the works were created, in which the color and the structure are part of the final result. All these elements are used in different ways to create an image.
The works come in a beautiful handmade box.
