Nies de Vuijst applies paint in broad, expressive strokes that are allowed to flow. The composition reminds one of landscapes, although that is not her intention. Many layers of paint hide a history of underlying older works. She covers earlier actions with new images, creating intriguing relief patterns on the surface. The sides of the painting reveal small floods of paint.
