Nies de Vuijst’ series of small paintings
Along with her larger works, Nies de Vuijst #5 2-26 is one of a series of five small paintings in a balanced color palette, created on canvas on a board support.
Nies de Vuijst applies the paint with broad, expressive brushstrokes. The composition is reminiscent of landscapes, although that is not necessarily her intention. Layers of paint conceal a history of the painting process. She overlays previous actions with new images, creating intriguing relief patterns on the surface.
This series is the second of five new small paintings from 2026. The first series of the year already found a new owner.
