About Maria de Werker
Thoughtful and subtle like a slow, light dance. You can watch Maria de Werker’s drawings for a long time. They change constantly, as if they were moving.
On the paper, the image arises in one gesture. The surface imprints structures, the pressure of the hand is even, calm and concentrated. Line becomes plane, plane becomes space. Open, soft forms, in crayon that moved flatly across the paper. Sometimes closed and passionate, like a clenched fist, in black paint. Controlled but not constructed.

The work at Museo is an edition: the drawing was photographed and digitally developed into a quality print of 50 x 70 cm on heavy paper.
