When we talk about Katharina Fischborn’s work, we can roughly distinguish two different approaches: handwriting and wood printing. Fragile pencil drawings and prints in soft or bright colors on incised transparent paper (scalpel-drawings) overlaid in layers. Collage partitions from woodcut unica combine with hand-drawn lines. Drawing and printing flow together to form shifting, alliterating shapes.
